Art in a Healing Place at Yale

Art Places

Location:

The Yale Physician’s Building 800 Howard Avenue New Haven, CT 06511

This past May I was invited to be part of a group of 6 artists to show my sculptures in the Art Place Exhibit XVI at the Yale Physicians Building.  My window sculptures and mandala plates were shown on the bridge connecting the Yale Physicans Building and the Yale Medical School, and in front of the main window of the reception area.  Shortly after the exhibit opened, I received a copy of an email sent to the curator, as follows:  “…Ultimately you reach “the bridge”. A bridge to the most wonderful and interesting exhibition of Art, the tracery/clay/stained glass work of Melody Lane.  Her work stops you (coming and going).  I loved it, the discovery, the time and the opportunity.”

After the reception, the Blue & Yellow Window Sculpture was purchased for the permanent collection of the Smilow Cancer Center, to be placed in the Infusion Center.  The idea of healing through art is a brainchild of Rosalyn Cama of CAMA, Inc. in New Haven.  The exhibit closes in February.
